2022 Composition Goals

In January of 2022 i was coming off of a big slump in my writing. From September of 2020 to December of 2021 I had only written a 2 minute percussion duo (which was published so yay!). That period of my life was very draining on me and I made a vow to make the time to create more music in 2022. So, I made a goal of writing twelve pieces of music, one a month, for the new year. Today I have achieved that goal I am happy to say. Not only has this been the most productive year for me as a composer, but interest in my music is the highest it has ever been. This has led to several commissions and performances of my newly composed works. I hope to continue this pace and complete some long overdue pet projects of mine, which include:

  • Expanding He Cried Out into a 8 movement work.
  • Writing my first work for orchestra
  • Writing more music for woodwinds. I really enjoyed writing for woodwinds this year and would like to do more in the future. I am thinking of writing a sonata for either saxophone of clarinet.
